Admission before swimming
The recreational-swim page requires children age six and under to stay with an adult age 16 or older, within arm’s reach and in the shallow end. The same applies to non-swimmers age seven to ten. The source’s strong-swimmer statement should not be read as cancelling the youngest-child rule.
A seven-to-ten-year-old must pass the facility test before swimming independently. Not passing means the adult and shallow-end rules continue. These are city admission standards, not an assessment of a child’s medical fitness.

What the test checks
The swimmer completes at least two widths without touching the bottom or resting. Staff look for strong forward progress, the face in the water, breathing out of the water when needed, arms recovering out of the water and comfort throughout.
Do not replace this facility test with a parent’s opinion or an old lesson level. Ask the facility about how testing is organized at the selected session.

Find and change a session
The city booking system can filter locations and services. Walk-in access does not promise spare capacity; registration is also offered. For cancellation or registration help with a recreational swim or aquafitness class, call the facility directly.
Swimming-lesson availability is also handled by the preferred pool by phone for current group, private and semi-private options. This guide does not claim a full pool-location inventory because the captured municipal-pools page supplies procedures without a complete address list.
