Winter road rules

The ban includes roadways, highways, laneways and side streets. Enforcement runs every day, not only during falling snow. A vehicle can be ticketed and towed if it blocks clearing. Call 311 for information if your vehicle has been towed.

Council’s stated holiday amendment permits parking on local roads and in municipal lots from 12:01 to 7 a.m. on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Residents must still be mindful of snow-removal needs. These exceptions do not create permission to obstruct a route or ignore another posted restriction.

HotSpot and pay stations

Use your plate, lot number and credit card or Visa debit in HotSpot. It supports remote top-ups, approaching-expiry notifications and credit for unused time when ending a session early. New users are offered 30 minutes on signup in the city’s description.

Unused time is credited to the app account for future parking, not described as a cash refund. Coin and card payment at the pay station remain available. For app problems, email support@htsp.ca or call 1-855-712-5888.

Monthly permits and limits

The city offers digital monthly municipal permits in HotSpot and also sells permits at the Tom Davies Square Citizen Service Centre. The guide does not invent lot rates: use the city parking map and signs for hourly, daily and monthly charges and restrictions.

Payment protects only the purchased parking session. It does not waive the winter road ban, a reserved-space rule or the need to use the correct plate and lot.
