Choose the right enclosure

The small-dog enclosure is for dogs under 25 pounds and under 15 inches at the shoulder. The large enclosure applies at 25 pounds or more, or over 15 inches. The source leaves the exact 15-inch boundary unclear; ask staff if your dog sits on that boundary.

Each park has double-gated entry and exit, garbage bins and portable washrooms. Those listed features do not establish an accessible path or a serviced indoor washroom.

Owner responsibilities

The shelter page’s dog-park conduct rules limit each handler to three dogs, require waste pickup and ongoing control, and require a leash to remain readily available. Dogs under four months, unwell or injured dogs, and dogs in heat are excluded. Aggressive dogs must be removed immediately.

Children under 12 need an adult over 18. Dogs must not dig, and handlers must fill holes. Human food is not allowed; use caution with toys and dog treats. These are municipal conduct rules, not a substitute for veterinary advice.

Location and new-park proposals

Minnow Lake’s stated entrance is north of the cemetery on Second Avenue. The other two entries have civic addresses. A map points to the address or intersection, not a measured gate.

A new off-leash park proposal needs an organized volunteer group, a written city agreement, secured funding and later public consultation. The existence of an unused field does not make it a permitted off-leash area.
